7 Ways to Stay Grounded this Holiday Season

The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration but can also be filled with stress. With the hustle and bustle of buying gifts, attending parties, or traveling to visit family, it's easy to forget to take care of yourself. It's important to make sure to take care of yourself! Doing so will not only help you manage stress levels but also help you feel refreshed and revitalized this Holiday Season.

Here are some tips for how to practice self-care during the busy holiday season:

Get enough sleep: Sleep is essential for recharging our bodies and minds and restoring us physically and mentally. During the holidays, make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. If your schedule gets too hectic, try to take a few power naps or even just 10 minutes of meditation throughout the day.

Eat healthy foods: Eating a balanced diet is key for keeping your energy levels up during the holidays. Make sure you incorporate plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables into your meals and lean proteins like fish or chicken. Limit unhealthy processed foods and sugar as much as possible.

Exercise regularly: Exercise is great for releasing endorphins that can help lift your mood if you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed by the holiday festivities. Even if you only have fifteen minutes make sure you do something active, like going for a walk or doing yoga at home.

Take breaks: It’s easy to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle of the holidays but don’t forget to take regular breaks throughout the day so that you can recharge and restore yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. This could mean reading a book, taking a warm bath, doing some breathing exercises, or meditation - whatever makes you feel relaxed and rejuvenated!

Set boundaries: Don't be afraid to set boundaries around how much time you spend with family members or friends who might be draining your energy during this time. It’s ok to let people know that you need some alone time in order to look after yourself holistically - they will understand!

Spend quality time with yourself: The holiday season can be filled with lots of social events which can become tiring after a while! Make sure you spend some quality alone time with yourself to reflect on how far you’ve come this year, what went well in self-care this past year, and how best to approach looking after yourself holistically moving forward into 2023.

Practice gratitude: Gratitude has many benefits, including reducing stress levels and improving emotional well-being. Take moments out of your day (even if it's just 5 minutes!) where you reflect on all that has gone right in 2022 despite its challenges - they could be big things like getting a new job promotion or small things like finally learning how to bake sourdough bread! Practicing gratitude helps us focus on what we already have instead of what we lack - an incredibly powerful habit, especially during these times!

By taking small steps towards self-care each day during this season, we're better equipped to stay grounded and handle challenges with greater ease while still enjoying our celebrations!
